چکیده

We study the achievable rate region and optimal power allocation for broadcast channels (BC) under orthogonal access schemes. The channel follows a block fading model with channel side information (CSI) perfectly known at the receiver but not at the transmitter. The region boundary is determined by finding the optimal power allocation associated with all boundary points. For the two-user case, the optimal strategy balances power between the users via a Tangent Match algorithm. In a Rayleigh fading BC with more than two users, the optimal power allocation is obtained by applying the tangent match algorithm to the pair of users with the largest and smallest average channel gain, respectively.

Outage Capacities of Broadcast Fading Channels with Channel Side Information under Different Spectrum-sharing Techniques

We derive the outage capacity regions of fading broadcast channels for code-division (CD), time-division (TD) and frequency-division (FD), assuming that both the transmitter and the receivers have perfect channel side information. The zero-outage capacity regions and the associate optimal resource allocation policies are obtained for CD with and without successive decoding, for TD and for FD. W...

Capacity and optimal resource allocation for fading broadcast channels - Part I: Ergodic capacity

In multiuser wireless systems, dynamic resource allocation between users and over time significantly improves efficiency and performance. In this two-part paper, we study three types of capacity regions for fading broadcast channels and obtain their corresponding optimal resource allocation strategies: the ergodic (Shannon) capacity region, the zero-outage capacity region, and the outage capaci...

Capacity and Optimal Resource Allocation for Fading Broadcast Channels

We derive the ergodic (Shannon) capacity region of an M-user broadcast fading channel for code-division (CD), time-division (TD) and frequency-division (FD), assuming that both the transmitter and the receivers have perfect channel side information. It is shown that by allowing dynamic resource allocation, TD, FD and CD without successive decoding have the same ergodic capacity region and optim...

Capacity and optimal resource allocation for fading broadcast channels - Part II: Outage capacity

In this two-part paper, we study three capacity regions for fading broadcast channels and obtain their corresponding optimal resource allocation strategies: the ergodic (Shannon) capacity region, the zerooutage capacity region, and the capacity region with outage. In Part I, we obtained the ergodic capacity region of the fading broadcast channel under di erent spectrum-sharing techniques. In th...

Capacity and Optimal Power Allocation for Fading Broadcast Channels With Minimum Rate Requirements

We derive the capacity and optimal power allocation scheme for a two-user fading broadcast channel where minimum rates must be maintained for each user in all fading states, assuming that the transmitter and both receivers have perfect channel state information. We show that superposition coding can achieve the capacity of such channels and explicitly characterize the boundary of the capacity r...
